“Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
The 29:11 story jewelry was created by Salley Walker, following her struggle with God after the death of her son. William was diagnosed with bone cancer at the age of 12. His five-year battle was brutal but William was never alone; he knew God intimately. He believed he was going “home “ to God when he died at age 17. William had a powerful story to tell.
His mother has a powerful story as well.
The 29:11 Stories tell the story of God’s plan for us, to give us all a hope and a future and to prosper us. Simply put, God‘s perfect story is that God- the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit- does exist, that we are His creation, and we have fallen from grace but been redeemed by Christ.
We are now waiting with the Holy Spirit to go “home” as children of God.
The 29:11 Story Ministry
The 29:11 Story Ministry has three distinct missions. First, we desire to bring together God’s children, mostly women, of all socioeconomic backgrounds into our fellowship. In the Second Mile house, we gather upstairs and learn about God‘s plan for our futures. In that room, we make beautiful 29:11 Stories as we share our own individual stories. Our room is full of laughter and often tears. We are also learning how to run a business. We are learning how to make something of value, market, sell, and decide what to do with the profits of our labors. Much of our profits go back to our women, as we buy back their “Stories“ that they create.
Our second mission is to spread God‘s Word and His perfect plan as we sell our 29:11 Story collection. We believe that every 29:11 Story that we sell establishes a spiritual connection between us, God, and whoever buys our creations. Our 29:11 Stories are reaching out beyond our little cottage in Huntsville. We are constantly affirmed by the powerful message our beautiful Stories tell.
Our third mission is one that touches us deeply. For over 20 years, Second Mile Development has served the neighborhood with a Christian preschool. These precious children are God’s future and his delight. They desire a chance to prosper. They deserve to have lives full of hope and to have powerful stories to tell. Every bit of The 29:11 Story Ministries profits that are left goes to the Second Mile Preschool. And we are in the process of building a new home for this preschool. Do you want to learn more about our exciting plans?
It is a powerful story!
Second Mile Development
If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.
Over 30 years ago, Bill McDowell had a heart and a passion for God. He began his life‘s work with inner-city high school boys. Realizing the destruction of generational poverty, he and his wife Mary, with their church’s backing, bought a small house in Huntsville‘s most under-resourced neighborhood and began their work as the nonprofit, Second Mile Development. The ultimate dream of Second Mile is to bring about, through Christ, reconciliation between all people: the rich and poor, the educated and uneducated, the fortunate and less fortunate. The Second Mile Preschool, The Neighborhood Thrift Store, Parent Initiative, The Baby Store, and its newest outreach project, The 29:11 Story Ministry, are Second Mile Developments programs serving this area.
